During a Feb. 26 inspection focused on foodborne biological hazards, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued two citations to UA Seafood Group, Inc. in Vernon, according to data posted on the FDA’s website.
The FDA website details that the company received notices for the following:
- ‘No one associated with your firm has completed the required HACCP training or is HACCP qualified through job experience.’
- ‘You do not have or have not implemented written verification procedures, product specifications and an affirmative step for ensuring that fish and fishery products you import are processed in compliance with the Seafood HACCP regulation.’
The FDA regularly conducts inspections at facilities nationwide to check that workplaces and their products meet all FDA-regulated policies and regulations, which are intended to support public health. Inspection outcomes are released to the public.
The FDA’s website notes that it is the government agency primarily in charge of overseeing the safety and quality of human and animal drugs, biological products, medical devices, and tobacco products.
